Seems that the system sometimes does work out well. I was just told that the official from that area contacted the NTA, who in turn got that official in touch with John Janelli. John assured him that we dont use the dangerous chelicals cited, and even showed the official involved a WASCO catalog as a way of introducing him to what we do. John then got the ball rolling. Steve Wolk then spoke to this same official, as he covers the town that Steve is from as well. They now have an understanding as to what we do, and that the complaint was most likely NOT as a safety issue, and Ill leave it at that. The official, after speaking at length to Steve and John, has decided to take no further action. I would say that anyone who still has an issue contact Steve Wolk about this to get it resolved for your own situations. Thank Steve as well. In this day where we have been very critical of the NTA, this is one of those times where we should be just as forward with our thanks. I was just made aware of this within the hour, on a Sunday. Please lets not start another NTA bash, but give credit where its due as professionals. Thanks JJ and Steve !
WOW!
That was a quick end to a problem. Thanks JJ and Steve, seems you both stepped up to the plate. Thanks for the info Bill. It's a shame Steve don't get on here any more but maybe JJ can call him and tell him that we said thank you. Now I hope the taxidermist around his area start kicking his... rump.... See Bill I did it, edited myself...
I might not live in MO but being a member of their association and being treated as well as I have been as an out of stater, well that makes me feel like it's a victory for me as well. That very well could have happened any where. Way to close the door on this problem Steve and JJ. See I'm not that bad I give credit where credit is due, Awesome job guys. Dan

JJ deleted his account, but I think his wife still peeks in every now and then. Either way, I hope they know we appreciate them handling this. Rats need to be exterminated.

The way the first post was written, it had nothing to do with safety.
Seems they tried to ban a home based business. Im still curious whats going on.
It is a great deal for the NTA to step up and take a interest in this, especially when Missouri is a non affiliated state.
It honestly make me appreciate the NTA.

Hi my name is Herb Hilderbrand, i own Cutting Edge Taxidermy in St Charles Mo. Every one is right about it being Paul Kanter.
The guy did the same thing 20 years ago, shut every one down right before deer season.
He has stated that he is going after every taxi in Mo. If you live in a county with zoning laws on business's. In ST Charles county
you can not run a shop in a non commercial area. I was forced to rent a store front.
You can apply for a variance but it is a 400 dollar fee and if you lose you do not get your money back.
If any locals want talk give me a call 636-928-5437
thanks Herb

Why don't people keep showing up to Paul Kanters business with protest signs, harrasing phone calls in the middle af the night and an all out underground attack on this guy??? Whats good for the goose in good for the gander....I hate a [expletive deleted]ing bully!!
(See Bill, self editing if you spell it right!)

Kick my shoes off so they can't trace me

Are you kidding me?
I made the mistake of visiting, and read this... as a preminition...
3. Regular premises or work place. Taxidermy is a business just like any other business and should be treated as such. The work should be done in a regular building or area to do just this kind of work. Along with the premises comes set hours and a telephone. you should be able to contact your taxidermist during his normal business hours at just about any time, with few exceptions. Not being able to contact easily is a sure sign of a fly by night operation. Also constantly moving from one location to another shows instability and usually means your trophy and deposit could end up missing. Unfortunately it happens!
You folks better get on the phone, get yourselves together as a group (you know, like a state organization?) and get things done...now.
