Not your fault, then there is the client who you see down town and says where ismy mount, you said a month ago it was ready and you know you never told him that he is just putting pressure on you to be first!!

Yeah. We had a guy that got divorced filed for bankrupcy and dissapeared with numerous deer. I hear from quiet a few guys of dropping off ducks with taxidermists and never seeing them again. I guess they screw them up and dont want to fess up what happened.

And then there are the clients who never bother to get the deposit to you and then complain that the work never gets done.

I hate the guys that know the price up-front, pay deposit and all ....... Then 4 months later ( after work is done and ready to pick-up ) start complaining bout the price.
Then when you stick to your price and make them pay up, they start badmouthing you and your prices and work.

I get one of these guys every couple a years ... and I always wanna punch em in the damn mouth when I run into them later.

i had the famous where is my mount call last week, the man said it`s been over a year now and i`m wondering how much longer? i asked his name, looked it up, went to the phone and said.....it is in the freezer stage, nothing but silence on the other end of the phone, then he said what does that mean, i told him his cape is frozen like a rock. Then he got upset and had some words for me and said he wanted it back in the time specified on the contract. I told him it`s not going to happen, he shouted why not over the phone at me and continued to say that he would contact an attorney, i told him very nicely..... you could try to sue me all you want, your end of the contract was never filled, you never ever gave a deposit which is required within 2 weeks of the drop off and many phone calls not answered and numerous letters were sent out including a certified letter which was recieved by you and signed for by you , i said have your attorney contact me and i will fax him the contract you signed and the certified letter you signed for and we will go from there. Have a nice day and i hung up the phone. 2 days later he showed up at my shop and said he wanted the cape and horns back as he was going to take it somewhere else, i had him sign another paper stating that he never fufilled his part of the contract by not giving a deposit and not answering phone calls or letters sent to him to resolve this problem and that he was breaking the contract with no fault to the taxidermist. He signed it ,took his stuff and left, now his name goes on a list of customers not to accept business from.

this is why i could not have been able to stand being a taxidermist for the public...i would not allow anything to get into my freezers without a depost.....if they didn't have one they would have to come back with the trophy and the deposit....

We try not to accept anything without a deposit.  If they don't have a deposit, they usually don't have $$ when it is ready for pick up, and you sit on them for a very long time. Haven't taken anything without deposit for years.

My contract says if I don't receive the required deposit within 30 days the item will become property of the studio and will be sold to cover expenses associated with it (skinning fleshing, storage, etc.)
