I plan on picking a school soon and have a debate about taking class for game heads.  I would like to know if it is really possible to learn the basics and a few tips and tricks along with the whole learning experience in just a 5 day course for game heads only?  I see more potential that I could get out of a 2 wk course more, but is it that your just mounting a couple more heads, with a little extra money added?  Can you really get a good experience out of 5 day course dedicated to only game heads?  just curious on opinions...  From Iowa and looking for a school close BUT will travel for quality teachings.  job is a set back to the time I will have to learn.. I sure would like to take a full 9wk course on everything but just cant with job, or $ wise....

first of all don't choose because of time frame choose for quality of instruction. if you are limited with time find someone here to work with you on the basics for a week or two that is reputable.. practice on your own studying along the way! then go see Bill Yox at a yoxathon to top it off.. whitetail class is over.. then move on to a different subject..choose who..not where and how long! hope this helps!

If you want an instructor that paces the course on your skill and ability, you need to contact Troy Rose of Troy Rose's Artistic School of taxidermy in Idaho. I spent 7-full days with Troy and when I say full days, the days went from about 8 am to between 8 - 10 pm.  He was great and he includes room and board.  Great food!!!!1

These guys gave honest answers based on their experiences, but let me add this. Much of it depends on the type of student you will be. Some will do well with 5 days, some will need weeks or more. Theres instructors here who see students more than once as they schedule additional dates. Theres no answer that fits everyones learning and /or teaching style. Coonhollow came and saw me, and passthru elected to see Troy instead of me. Both students are well satisfied. Best of luck to you.

All great answers to this question. I didn't have the time available to go to a 2 wk course. I went and studied with John Griffith for 3 days and I want to go to a Yoxathon this next spring.
