5 gallons is a lot if you are just starting out I would push them to get you it in gallons, they didn't want to get you a gallon because they would have the remainder of the case..they can get it in gallons.

I just bought a gallon two weeks ago for $18, my friend looked where he lives, just 50 miles away and it was $28.  It wasn't in stock but got it in about two or three weeks.  I live in North East NC.  O' yea it looks and smells the same as the hide paste that I paid $40 for.

i wonder why this stuff varys so much in price?? from the same place.
its about 28 + tax here..
and if i want a 5 gallon pail its 28x5=140
have seen others on here that have gotten 5 gallon pails for much cheaper..

to begin with Sherwin Williams isn't cheep they have quality products at a premium price there is a big mark up in their items. You may want to look into a contractors account or if you know someone that is in the painters / tapers union you may be able to have them grab you some much cheaper.

Bigbucktn, you must have the same person working at your store as here in Albuquerque, she must have been having a bad day when I was there. Usually when you buy something in bulk or larger quantity there is a little discount. She told be $25.00 for a gallon, I said ok how about the 5 gallon how much and she said 25 x 5 do the math. So I said 50 buck's just to levitate the situation and she walked off to help another costumer.

Thankyou.............The reason I asked is because I was just Guestimateing the difference in cost with the Roman 555 and What I use (White lightning Caulk)
.......and it seems that the caulk cost almost twice as much.................I do have a gallon of Roman in My shop and Ive used it on a couple of mounts but I still the caulking better........But I still think the Roman 555 is a good Glue.............

I just paid $31 after tax for a gallon here in NY. They only had 1 gallon on the shelf. Didn't see any 5 gallon pal's either.
