Can i preserve holly limbs by spraying them with a clear coat or something? Or will they still lose their color? Should I just go with fake for a scene?

They preserve nicely when done using the systemic method.

You can try the preservative from the catalogs. I have used some in the past. Now I am making my own, but it is not bottled for sale quite yet. But you can take a fresh cutting and let the branch take the solution up the stem. Like you would with frsh cut flowers.

Thanks, i'll look into that and see if I can find some. So do they keep their color but just kind of dry up? What about the berries?

The leaves will keep their color and stay pliable. If it dries up, you did not leave it in the soloution long enough. As for the berries, you may want to look for some fake ones or experiment with real ones to see how they dry up or preserve. I have not played with them yet.
