The Week in Fish Pictures~ Week #24 March 16 2007- March 22 2007

Good Day from Grand Rapids Michigan and the Michigan Taxidermy Association 25th Annual Convention! I post to you this week from the MTA show. I have been to many conventions over the years and I have meet and seen lot of great work but I must admit this is in the all time tops for me.

First it is the 25th anniversary of this great associations convention. With several hindered members and a show that boasts over 250 mounts it is a big show worth seeing. The show is conjunction with the Big Grand rapids sportsman show, which is gigantic! The members are great and they all make you feel like family! If you have never been here or were thinking of a show worth your time and your money to see and participate in it is this one for sure to make your top 3 on the list!

I will post some awesome pictures of the fish and a few other neat things to see. I was lucky and felt like a kid as I got to meet one of my all time idols in Mr. Dale Cornetet Dale has been one of the great fish artist of all times. So for me personally this was very cool! So with out further ado!
 
Week # 24 is upon us. Thanks to everyone who has participated last week! Well Over 2200 hits!!! Huge!!!!!! This is one of the fastest growing if not the fastest growing strings on the forum! It is because you share your talent and knowledge with others in a positive friendly manner! Folks need to see that learning is not about any thing then having fun and appreciating great work! Here’s to all of you!

Last week we had some Great Fish from a lot of giving folks who don't mind sharing and helping others with some inspiration and cool fish!

We had lots of new folks and some folks who haven’t been with us for a while! Welcome and Welcome back! The work this past week was nothing short of breath taking and the artist who shared take a bow for your beautiful efforts!

Each week Pictures can be posted of recent work or work your proud of to show and share with your pears!
 
Everyone is welcome to post, from beginners to the advanced.

So here goes! I thought I would start out this week with a request form A new participate on our friendly forum. A Muskie. So here is a nice 32 incher for this weeks kick off!

 what a great start for the week, 3 Beautiful mounts already.  Here's something a bit different, a 12” Black Piranha. Bought the blank off of ebay.

Nice "stuff" guys....love it!! Grin  No skin mounts for me today. Thought I would post my latest wood carving that's almost done. Started this about 2yrs. ago and could never find time to finish. Nine inch rock bass checkin' out a lake chub all basswood.

Here's a largemouth I finished this week:



I mounted this 7 pounder on a form from McKenzie and it is the best fitting form I've ever ordered.  If all fish mounts were this easy life would be much easier.  I did the gold scale tipping prior to sealing with fungicidal sealer and then finished it out with Polytranspar water-based paints using  a Paasche VL#3.  Wet Look gloss to finish.

Again, I enjoy all the posts you folks put up.  Seems to make my work seem so plain though.

dougp - Very nice wood carving! 
I don't do taxidermy, I'm learning wood carving and come here to look at the "Friday Show" as inspiration.
