Matt G asked about goose feet and I too was wondering about cast waterfowl feet especially duck in a swimming pose to add to decoys ,letting them hang down into the water ,2 purposes 1. the ''keel weight'' 2 .realism to be seen by incoming birds for drawing them the last few yards!!

I just watched Joe Kaiser's casting waterfowl heads and feet video from Taxidermy Training Unlimited and it was GREAT!  I have bee casting heads for 4-5 years and I learned a couple easy tricks to make my heads even better.  The foot casting was very helpful also since I have only tried it once and didn't have good luck.  Can't wait to try it now!

Alan,
Contact Pete Ocello about your question on waterfowl feet.  He is an expert when it comes to birds and he will be able to recommend a process and supply materials.  Here's his web site:  http://www.preservationspecialties.com/main.htm

erik1,
Are you pouring a 1 piece or 2 piece mold?
Are the feet you are casting injected, frozen or what state are they in when you pose them?
Let us know.

I am pouring a 1 piece mold.  My feet are injected with soapy water and frozen overnight.

Thanks for the update.
Question: why not inject them with masters blend and set them firm, then make a mold of that? Just wondering.
