Recently I had a gentleman call and ask me about mounting several animals that he wants to have sent back from africa.  A baboon a warthog and several others if possible.  I have been doing taxidermy for approximately 11 years now but no African animals.  What do I expect when the animals are sent?  (Probably salt dried) But do I have them sent to my house and if so what do I do if the animals are not in the best of shape.  Can I  tan these animals in the traditional ways?  I am a big user of Saftee acid.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

best way is have the skins sent to a customs broker such as fauna flora in new york to handle  the import , with a warthog in the shipment,  after they are cleared they will have to be shipped to a USDA approved establishment  most of the larger tannery's are USDA approved ,   i have had good results tanning lighter weight  african skins in house
