looking for suggestions on making ice.  No, not icicles.  I'm doing the habitat on a personal mount and want to recreate the ice that forms on the waters edge of a pond.

Any suggestions?  Similar to this picture

Thanks in advance

Mix the fake snow with your envirotex....I would por that after your clear pour has set....You can also make some nice cracked ice chunks by soaking pieces of thin plexiglass in acetone for a bit..Set in your scene, then pour over with straight envirotex again...

Thanks Scott.  I'll give that a try.

Any advice on the ice edge that remains after water has receded?  Maybe envirotex on foil???

I mixed fake snow and regular clear silicone....looks more slushy than ice which is what I was going for but maybe you can try that.

You can take thin pieces of plexiglass and break them in the desired shapes and sizes.......then a quick application of envirotex to add that wet ice look. You can also do this by laying them on a plastic garbage bag that ISN'T flatly spread out. The plastic's "wrinkles" will appear to be air pockets in the ice after it dries and really adds something to the look.

For a slushy look just add un-iodinized salt until you reach the look you want. Add the salt, let it soak in, then add more as needed.

I have found that hot glue works the best for adding ice around the edges of water, I have done slot of them and it even has that foggy ice look to it when it dries!
