if you have a tumbler gas your bird then let it air dry for about ten min so you dont blow up when you put it in tumbler then tumble it for about ten min then it should fluff up real nice after about five min of blow drying hope this helps

Before I had a tumbler, I used to dry all of my ducks with a blow dryer. It would take anywhere between 45 min. to an hour. You must get the the down dry and fluffy for it to look good.

After gassing a bird, I blow dry them too. I can dry and fluffy a wood duck up in about 5 minutes. Not sure what power your blower is, but I have the Blaster which puts air out at 160 mph. Gassed turkeys are dry in about 12 minutes for me, and no sawdust everywhere!

160 mph ? If I did that they would be fluffy, dry and in a pile in the corner.

Guess its false advertising then. I don't write the instructions that come with the blower. 29,250 ft./min air flow from the 4 HP motor. FYI it's not the true "Blaster." It's one for drying motorcycles and no, it doesn't destroy birds. Like it or not, my times are still right on by a stopwatch. I even dry deer capes with mine. The gas separates the water from the feathers so you're blowing air across a solvent that evaporates fast as it is. Put some on your gloves and watch how fast it dries off them.

I gas my birds let them stand for about five or ten minutes then I throw it in the borax and coat it real good (inside and out) then shake it off. I do this a couple of times and then I blow dry it dry and fluffy in about 5 minutes. Done 9 this evening. Now I'm going back to the shop and start mounting...DC
