Selling fish molds question
«

Does anyone sell fish molds? As many of you know, I no longer do fish mounts. In my garage I've got a bunch of fiberglass fish molds (about 50) of various fish that are just taking up space. I want to sell them, but I don't know what I can sell them for. When I factor in the time I spent molding each fish, the cost of the resin, fiberglass and other materials, plus how many fish casts a taxidermist can get out of each mold, molds are very worthy. I would think that one mold would be worth way more than the "blank" that is pulled from it.
Any ideas?

It depends on the quality and type of the molds. Also the quality and quantity of the blanks.

I would think it would also depend on the person wanting to buy the mold. maybe they only need it one time, which would give it one value; maybe they are speculating on someday needing that type in that position of that size-thus another value would be attributed to the same mold.
if on the other hand someone wants to mold up a bunch of blanks to have on hand or sale, you have another way of determining value.and it is always possible that it is worth more than the cost of the "one" blank that is pulled from it based on quality.
if it faces right and my customer wants his to face left then there is no value to me.
very subjective.
am curious as to what you want to get out of them, since luckily you don't have to feed them. LOL
verrrry gooood question my friend.

assuming they are good molds of mountable sized specimans---they are definitely worth more than just a single casting.

I agree they should go for more than a single casting. Just put them up for sale for the least you would take. If they are not being used it would be hard to consider it a loss if you find out later that you could have gotten more.
