Molding question

Quick question, I'm gonna mold a plastic part and should I coat it a releasing agent to help?

If the model is porous, then you will need to seal it then hit it with mold release. If it's smooth and not made of silicone, then you can get away with using no mold release. If you have doubts, use a light coat of mold release as insurance. Make sure the release you are using is compatible with silicone rubber.  Ease release 200 will work fine.

Once I molded a plastic part with silicone and used a silicone-based release agent that wasn't compatible with the molding silicone.  It acted as a primer for the silicone and made it adhere tenaciously to the plastic part.  I had to cut it off with a scalpel and remove the residue with gasoline.  Nothing else (alcohol, naphtha, acetone, lacquer thinner, etc.) besides gasoline seemed to work.  Mann Ease Release 200 was the key, even though the tech at Smooth On told me it contains a little silicone.  I also use Liberon Black Bison fine paste wax for mold release and it works extremely well.
