all of these skulls have been found in the woods. if they are missing bones and teeth that is how i found them.

raccoon. my first skull, missing a lot of teeth and half the lower jaw.

woodchuck. missing a lot of bones, the lower jaw and some teeth, poor condition.

another woodchuck. missing 2 teeth and both zygomatic arches. some mineral stains.

thanks for looking at them please critique, and i have more to come.

First of all, it is very neat to just find things walking in the woods.

Skulls that decompose in the woods sometimes are harder to whiten than a normal skull.  Due to the elements it is subjected to.  But they do still look yellowish to me, with some spots on the woodchuck.  More degreasing maybe,  might need a mineral bath.  The more peroxide time.

However very nice find.

yea i realized it might need some more degreasing and i didnt want to whiten it to much because i thought it would make the stains more visible. and yes it is cool to find things in the woods, but if you know were to look its not to overly hard.

edit: the raccoon may look yellow but thats just the natural bone color i did not whiten that one because i liked the way it looked as it was
