What do you guys do with driftwood when you buy it?   I don't know if I should do anything to it or if it should be fine to just use it as is.

I was thinking more along the lines of anything to stop mold or insects.   I was actually trying to find out if I had a reasonable complaint if the driftwood I purchased was getting mold and was infested with ants.   I bought it at the PTA convention and then found out it was getting mold and was full of ants.   I have driftwood that I picked up myself that has been on the basement floor for 10 years or more and there is no mold or ants.   This stuff was on a bench in the middle of my shop and was starting to get mold and when I put it in a weak bleach solution to try to stop the mold I found out about the ants.

I only buy and use tumbled cedar for that very reason.....it looks good, bugs don't like it and I have never seen mold on it. I have larger pieces that have been sitting outside for years and no issues (wife wanted some for the flower beds  Cheesy ) The only problem I have with it is it is so dang HARD so you need an impact driver to get screws to go without braking your wrist  Smiley
