Sorry to hear that. The housing crash got me early. (Major Appliances for new construction). South Florida is one of the toughest places to find gainful employment these days. I am in PBC.

Maybe learn to make dentures. I think that your skills would serve you well there and you could make a lot of money?

Set up shop in your house/garage, start your own line of cast taxidermy products; do custom casting for taxidermists. Won't pay the bill probably, but a good suppliment. Good luck.

I myself have been laid off after 15 years as a pattern and mold maker for the plastic thermo vacuum form industry. Used primarily in the RV industry, around here anyway, not much chance of that picking back up for a long time, if ever. I built working vacuum patterns from wood, MDF,  and bondo by hand. Negatives were made with hand lay-up. Tools were then built with ceramic. Smaller tools we cast with the urethanes you talked about. Now I'm just repairing old open face gel molds for truck caps, no one is making anything new. The economy sucks.

Your economy (USA) sounds just like ours (UK). Nothing doing, no manufacturing, no new houses , no one getting house repairs done etc, just no money to go round. Things are pretty bad here. I have two brothers in the building trade, an electrician and a joiner, both are lucky to get two/three days work if that.
Wishing you guys the best of luck.

Hi Guy's

Sorry to hear. It goes the same here in South Africa. I got laid of too and I was in the animal genetics industry. With my qualifications there are no work available, as money for research are not priority.
I concentrate on doing more fish now but with the economy as is, not alot of money to go around.
