Hi all,
I have been on the outskirts for a while, but it's time to get that 1st question out the way.......
First a huge thankyou to everyone that has posted on this terrific site, it is a wealth of information.

I would like to know the procedure for casting large fish, eg blue fin tuna approx 100kg ? I have done several Snapper up to 7kg with great success. I would like to know if you do the two halves and clamp together?  as I have done in the smaller fish, or should I cast two separate halves and assemble after they have set and de moulded?.........P.S I Moulded and cast using the method shown by JK Big thanks.
Regards

May as well rock the boat a little  Wink I'm not asking for trade secrets here guy's, I've been a member for nearly 12 mths.....With so many pro's and great amateurs on here, I really expected a little crumb of info....I have been doing taxidermy in Australia for the past 5 years, not easy down here, the only thing to go of is other sub standard work. I've seen how newbie's get shut down looking for the easy way out, let me assure you, a lot  of research has been done before I resorted to begging for a little help Grin....To most of you this may look like a fella with no patience, but with the amount of users on at any one time, I really expected help after 30 odd views.......Looking forward to having some great dust ups....P.S I don't have much patience but getting better...

I have never done a fish that large but would do it the same way as a smaller one.

Hi There

I do them a bit differently. After putting the fish in the bedding material i seal the fish in with clear lacquer. I use white gellcoat as my splash coat. When the gellcoat start to get tacky I cover it with fibreglass matting and resin. Remember to reinforce the mold. I use pieces of wood to strengthen the mold so that the mold can't distort. After this set turn the fish over and do the same the other side.
I hope this helps a bit. Remember to reinforce the two halves especially on big fish.
