I was wondering how everyone tags the skulls that are submerged in dawn water and peroxide? I bought some of the zink tags and found that they dissolve in the solution. Any advice would be great.

I buy plastic file folders and cut tags out of them and punch a hole in each one.  Then attach it to an antler with a zip tie and write on it with a paint marker pen.  They survive maceration and degreasing and whitening but they are not in the liquid.

I have some of the Uline Plastic Truck Seals that I have used on anterless skulls and they have all cracked and come apart during degreasing.  I only put one skull per container so I just keep the broken seal with the skull.

I use the truck seals. Take a look on their website because there is a cheaper option than the heavy duty seals.  I buy them by the 5000 and they stay on from recording to going home. The peroxide doesn't hurt them and they affix like zip ties. Clay knows where to get them I think.

I make my own, I take the white lid from a sterilite container from Dollar general and mark a grid pattern on it. then I take my dremel and a carving bit and number the squares. then drill a hole in each corner. I use white zip ties to attach to antlers, have been using these for a couple of years now and they show no signs of wear. you get about 40 per lid and they are reuseable.

edit: a regular pair of kitchen scissors will cut out the squares

I use these:

You can order by the 100's. Occasionally they will break at the thinnest part.

Ostea,
I haven't used the tags in acetone.........the tags are fine in ammonia and peroxide, I would assume they would be okay in acetone as well.

I use the same tag as clay but different company. Sold by the 1,000 includes up to 20 letters and numbered for about 150.00.

Yep.....that is them. They will break in that small joint. Not the best for taxidermy to survive the Tannery or banging around on big heads. I have seen better but they are pretty spendy....another 100.00 I am told.

I use these at from that website, and buy them in a few lots:
http://www.securityseals.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=294&idcategory=232

Only had two break all year, they are fine in acetone.  They are cheap also.
