Stupid question, but I need to know.

How do you kill a snapping turtle if you want to mount it? I would normally cut its head off to kill it, but I have a feeling that would not be good to mount it. How can I
SAFELY
kill it without messing it up?

I think this is becoming a weekly question. LOL
All
reptiles are best put in a freezer ALIVE. They go to sleep and eventually stop breathing.

By his tail brother. Grab him by the back of his tail and walk with him away from your body holding him out away from you. Place him in a 5 gallon bucket or Tupperware container with a lid and put his butt in the freezer.

I froze mine in a burlap sack placed in a box just big enough to fit him.

Thanks guys, I'm just trying to keep from getting bit. Losing a finger or two would ruin my day. Never mounted one, and want to try sometime.

lol best advice yet Dan! Never got to the re-bagging part. Blaine's freezer died and that was one of many things we lost! Got one on my "to find" list this year though.

That guy should invest in a $10 freezer alarm from Jim Allred. LOL
