Fishing in Chernoble

« on: May 30, 2011, 03:42:50 AM »

This piece was done around 1990 and it is one piece. A quarter inch steel rod goes through the coyote's tooth, into the foxes toe and up through the leg, in to the body.  The whole piece is supported by a 1/2" steel rod that comes out of the coyotes front foot.   The 1/4" to 1/2" welded connection is inside the head. This was a very hard one to wrap because both bodies were connected.  To do this, the string came up my pant leg, into my long sleeve shirt, out the wrist, in to my hand so that the continuously rotating bodies wouldn't catch the string and foul things up.

Except for the owner, this is the first time anybody is seeing this piece.    What's funny is I got this idea after seeing Marty Stouffer's "Wild America" on T.V. where a coyote chases a fox and the fox jumps off a cliff to get away.   The spot I took these photos at was within a few hundred yards of Marty's house, in Aspen.   A couple of months later, I was heading home, after a night in town, driving through a blizzard, up a curvy hill, when a fox comes running down the road, towards me and a few seconds later, a coyote chasing it!
Thanks for your comments.
