Hopefully somebody can help here. I usually use TT but have a need for a hard gloss that has good UV protection too. A high end finish would be nice, but the first two criteria are far more important. And in a can is also more important. I use to use a NAPA auto gloss for certain applications, but they discontinued the product. I am re-finishing one of those plastic bass mailboxes and it will be exposed to the weather. I really don't want to pay the cost for an auto gloss for a one-time application. Mainly, it's a pain for me to lug my compressor outside, etc. ro spray. Sooooo, I'm looking for something acceptable in a spray can(s). TT is too soft. I don't have a problem pulling the mailbox and refinishing it every couple of years. Again, a hard gloss (hail) in a can (portable) that has some UV protection is what I'm looking for. I cna't find much info on UV protection. Any suggestions? Thank you ahead of time!

Marty, this is what I use on my copper. Originally for outdoor applications, but I still use it on my taxidermy bases to protect the patina, and surface from scratches. Let me know if you need a distributor. I would give you some, but I only have satin in a can at the time.

Hey, lots of good ideas/products for me to try. For this project, I'm going to need something readily available though (I need to finish this by this Friday). The Permalac sounds like something I need to try down the road, but I'e gotta go with something I can run and pick up. Thanks for all the suggestions. It saved me a lot of time vs. having to do searches on the internet. ANd even then, I don't trust others that don't do what we do with products. Thanks again!

This is basically what I ended up going with after a brief discussion with Doug P. Due to time constraints I needed to go with something readily available. It looks like this will fit my needs. I'll have to post a pic of the mailbox once I'm done. Thanks again everybody...

I now see you didn't want to use auto gloss because of cost and only needing it for the one use so my post suggesting that is removed. LOL
