I took the advice given in this forum and joined my local taxidermy association, and because of this I am on my way to becoming a better taxidermist. At the New York State Convention, I met alot of very knowledgable people who were willing to share information concerning taxidermy. One of these people was DJ Cornish, owner and operator of DJ's Custom Taxidermy, located in Bath, NY.

DJ's 20+ years of experience in taxidermy and his attention to detail, shows in the quality of his mounts. DJ has received advanced training by renowned taxidermists, and has the ability to teach both the novice and experienced taxidermist and the ability to take each to their next level of expertise. DJ's shop is not only open to students, but also is available to experienced taxidermists wanting to work with DJ to improve their skills and discuss modern innovations in the field of taxidermy.

DJ's 8-hour classes consist of hands-on training, personal one-on-one instruction, and can cover everything from skinning to competing with a finished mount. DJ's Custom Taxidermy studio is spacious, well supplied, and equipped with excellent, maintained equipment.

Before I met DJ I attended a six-week course consisting of techniques and methods for mounting whitetail deer. I was provided  with the basics but I knew I would have to seek additional training to be proficient in taxidermy. I feel that I have learned more in the 3 days I spent with DJ than the entire 6 weeks I spent in my previous training course of study. As a result of this training provided by DJ, I am now confident and will be competing in the upcoming New England Taxidermy Association Convention, I will be using the training and methods I received from DJ to prepare my mounts for this competition.

It is my opinion that the $200.00 charged for 8 hours of instruction at DJ's Custom Taxidermy is by far the best value for the training anyone could receive. So if you want to take your taxidermy to the next level call DJ Cornish at (607) 329-2563.

Dang, I had a conversation with Rus recently about my classes, but I was quoting him $1500 for three days 1 on 1 here at my place! And to top it off, DJ took my course a few years back. Hahaha, its all good though, as DJ is a great guy, a friend, and evidently a bargain at that price. When you teach, these kinds of things are going to happen, no doubt. If someone was looking to spend a day with DJ, hes a good guy, and pay attention to how he tans. He shaves very thin and does a nice job. He also offers custom cape tanning for those that dont have time to do their own.

I know who you meant, but I liked my twist and Ron's input on the subject. Ron, what are we gonna do with him? He's getting slow in his old age. He has forgotten his twaining.
