So after many hours on this forum and gaining a little insight into my local market I have decided to begin my journey with fish. I am more of a fisherman than a hunter and most taxidermists in my area don't do fish. While in a local sporting goods store some amazing fish mounts caught my eye so I got the guys number, called him, expressed my interest, and met up with him too discuss teaching. Its obvious this guy really knows what he is doing, he charges 250 a day, he said to do one coldwater and one warm, both skin mounts, with reproduction heads, it would take about 5 days (not in a row). the real selling point for me is I only have to drive about 20 miles and don't have to pay out the ass for a motel, What I'm asking is if 250 a day is a reasonable price. I'm going to do a large rainbow and a large pike, what are some things I should really focus on learning to make sure I get the most bang for my buck? thanks for any feedback

Sounds like a reasonble price. You should think about doing a bass too.

Most charge between 300-500$ per day. So i think that sounds very reasonable. Steve

Not sure how reasonable the price is, because I have no idea what you are getting for $250. Some teachers wouldn't be worth $250, and others may be a bargain at $500.

If he is doing quality work, I'd say that is very reasonable, if not a steal for time with a good artist.
