I have received a brown trout that a customer was thinking about getting a custom replica done.  When I unthawed the fish there were a bunch of wrinkles and shrinkage in the fish skin.  Is there a way to "plump" this fish back up so the grate it was frozen on in the freezer isn't still showing?

Yep, and LIGHTLY and GENTLY while still in the ice water bath with rubber gloves on, gently massage the body until the "dents" go away. And always go from head to tail to not break away any scales.

You could go Dave Campbell on them and mold your skin mount. Other than that, fresh is best.

BTW Cory, if thaw means bring to room temp, wouldn't unthaw mean freeze? Wink
