I have a taxidermy classmate that is heading to Alaska next month for a Black Bear hunt and we are trying to figure out the best way of getting his life-size cape back to Oklahoma.  Not sure if freezing and shipping will work in this heat. We thought about packing it as a luggage item or my opinion was to try to find a taxi in the area where he will be hunting and seeing if he/she will salt it and ship it back?  Any ideas???

They ship critters all the time. They can advise you the best way.
Dry and salted as stated
2 day with dry ice.
etc.

That's what I was thinking. I guess he is just gonna have to see what happens when he gets one down. This is his first bear trip and I'm not sure he is gonna have a guide or a have a whole lot of help.  Its a semi guided hunt I believe.  My advice to him was before he goes find a taxi close by and pay him to salt and ship it for him.  Just figured I would help him out by posting it up here. Thank you guys for the input

You are "taxidermy school" classmates and you DON'T know the answer to that question! FLESH, SALT, DRY and bring it back as a second bag! It couldn't be any simpler than that.

Here we go again!!! Read my first post.  I had the idea as I said in the first post. But damn if I try to get a second opinion. The problem lies in the fact that he is not sure what supplies and conveniences he is going to have on the trip as I said in the first post it a semi guided Hunt meaning they don't have a guide with them at all times.  Yes I am in his class. He is a first timer and has never done any of this before,  I was wanting to give him a couple of options. I have done an Alaskan hunt so I thought I could get by with asking a simple question lol guess not
