Might sound like I'm being a smarty pants (but I'm not)...but what kind, or how thick? For "thin and fragile "looking" I have an unsealed cement picnic table out back that I paint with "dabs" of the right color laytex paint (kinda thinkly), hit it with a heat gun til the edges go " a little curley", then let it dry overnite. The next day I soak the table top with water (or do all this right before it's supposed to rain). Just check on it every so often-it will release from the concrete top on its' own = my textured lichen.      Be sure to test this out before you commit to "dobbing up" the whole top of your table . . .the wife might get a little testy about your "modernistic remodeling" of her lawn furniture.
I was planning on getting rid of that table, so I had no reservations about using it to re- paint some lawn ornaments on it. the next day it rained. I went out to finish another project on the handy table top when I discovered that the laytex paint had released from the concrete = suprise! So I did a few experiments and discovered the heat gun would really curl the edges. That table isn't going anywhere!!
