25 inch walleye caught under 1-90 bridge, north side shopko, LaCrosse Wi...mounted by Moe's Taxidermy, caught by Vern Schermerhorn.  The head had bright blue highlights.  I used lifetone Iridescent blue on the head to bring it out. Even after 18 hours in liqua-cure, the blue stayed in the head.  I have pictures of the fresh fish too.  I luckily had great field care because the wife of the fisherman diddled around  with fish taxidermy 20 years ago. She said it was 21 inches.  It was a heck of alot bigger than that.  It was 25 inches.  She brought it in on ice, I wish half the fish people bring in are fresh. Oh well, I love monster walleye. I only use wayne cooper aqua eyes, they are them most realistic.  Dan Reinharts are crap.

Jason,
Interesting you mentioned BLUE on the walleye. I've been to Canada and caught a very few walleyes and pike that were all blue. Very interesting...eh? The pike had absolutely NO light "bean" spots. They were just all blue.  Adding irridescent blue as the final color on the back(dorsal) is something I apply on almost all freshwater fish that I do.  Grin

Fish often, leave the barbs on, keep some to eat or mount, and apologize to no one.

Here's a couple recent skin mounts. The pike was really beat up! Had what appeared to be a healed spear hole in the back. Sides were scraped badly....another funfish, eh? Perch were a "piece 'o cake" Wink Cheesy

Trashfish.....OUTSTANDING!! Did you do the case/table...?? Is that a skin mount or replica Huh

Could like be me, I dont use paint schedules. There are a basic set of colors and from those its how the photos look and just matching them.

The basic colors are posted in previous post.

Nothing from me this week. Had the boys off for Spring break the previous week and now they have a 4 day weekend, so not much getting done in the shop. Just some general comments:

Chad - WOW! That Steelie DOES look like it was just caught.

Jason - I've never had the pleasure of seeing any of these odd colored Walter's. Certainly pretty cool, thanks for sharing!

Joe - very nice job on the striper. I wish I had a few more customer's that requested closed mouth's. I think they look pretty neat! Is that a replica? Artificial head on a skin mount? Nice detail.

TF - incredible job on that pike!!! Love the (fish) positioning and the sense of movement you've created in both directions with the fish and the habitat.

Doug - I'm tired of praising your work - lol! As usual, nice crisp mounts with great artistic presentation!

Glen - nice crappies! The rebuilding you've done in the heads is simply incredible. Somebody has got some good close-up shots AND attention to detail!!!

Alright, back to the animals - gotta break up another fight!!!

Here was a work in progress, the polymer-trout. I cast the body with IE 3030 and the fins are IE 3025. I am in the process of casting up another one, maybe for next Friday's pictures.
