Big gator head. Looking for someone that specializes in this.

12 foot. 600 ish lbs. Had to go in the brush to get him. Got exciting.

I'm looking fore suggestions on a skin on head mount with the mouth
Open. I've done some gator euro skulls and a couple rug mounts. I want this one to be done by the best, since its pretty unlikely I'll ever get another one this size.

Thanks for the compliment Mike.  I don't consider myself the best at anything I do however if you are serious and are wanting that head mounted get in touch with me.  I can mount it for you and I promise it will be done right.  I recently did a tutorial on here on a 10 footer that I did for a customer from Florida that found me on here. Below is the link to the tutorial.  I am actually delivering his to him next week when I go down to Florida.  I asked him if I could take it to a competition and he said Yes. I took it to the Missouri Taxidermy Competition and took an 87 in Masters with it.  I custom mold and cast the inside of each one of their mouths!  No crappy rubber inserts that one size fits all and no bright green eyes or black marble eyes.  Look forward to hearing from you.  Dan Hudzik

go with dan you can't go wrong.  that is a nice gator so don't scrimp on it.  you get what you pay for.  dan may be higher in cost than the chop shops in fl. but as someone who has had alot of gator heads done by diff people i would say dan by far does the best job.

Yup...you would do very, very, well with Dan.
As a Floridian, I find your generalization offensive. As far as chop shops in FL, just like EVERY OTHER STATE we have our fair share of hacksidermists...but we have some very good ones as well. If you want a reputable gator taxidermist IN Florida, and there are some here, please contact the Florida State Taxidermy Assn for a recommendation. http://www.myfsta.com/

I live in Florida too and there are a lot of chop shops here. I don't even know of a real good taxidermist near me but there are plenty of cheap ones. I'm sure around some of the big cities there are some and dsbragg on here does good work near Jacksonville other than that I haven't seen much to brag about in my area but then it seems like most of the people here like price over quality anyway.

I share a county with Trump, and Tiger.
I guess there is more $ to go around here.
We have cheap taxidermists here as well, but there are quality Taxi's as too.

if your not a chop shop no need to be offended.  as you stated every place has them but florida i am sure leads the country in gator haxidermy.  the important part of my post was you get what you pay for and to do some research which he is doing by coming here.

i do bird taxidermy and there are plenty of bad bird taxidermist.  Not that they are bad taxidermists, just not good at birds.  I am seeing the same with gators.  I've done a couple rugmounts and euros on smaller gators.  We get several 7-8 ft gators a year, so no biggie if I goofed one of those.  I look around the web and talk talked to several shops today.  Surprising how many guys wanna charge 750-1000 and then say they've done 2-3 heads or gators.  That would be about like me taking a king eider to a taxidermist that was just learning birds.

Dan - you ARE the best at something.  Being psycho on here.  :-)

I'm a FL hacksidermist, but I only hack up my own catches.  Fun learning along the way.  That GA head isn't soemthing you want someone learning on.

That sounds like a compliment coming from you Mike.  By the way I will be in or near Bunnell on the 18th.   Grin
