I need to get a snake with fangs with no rattle on the tip of it's tail
What snake out there has no rattling till but has hypodermic fangs? I'm in the USMC with 1/7 Baker Company and we have a dark colored snake that sort of resembled the colored of a dimondback, but it doesn't have a rattle. I have been told that it is some kind of Ader but I'm not sure. Any ideas? Please help I want to do a snake mount for my company before I get out in 5 months. Thanks guys and gals, I've been looking for a picture of the snake online but I might just have to scan a picture and put it up for you on monday. If you have any ideas let me know, and if you have a snake and can sell her to me let me know the size. Thanks!

Were are you located ? state side or over sea's ? It may narrow it down to the type of snake you are looking for . Semper Fi Gunny
I'm in 29 Palms right now Gunny. I'm pretty sure it some sort of desert snake, but I'll check out more pics of a cottom mouth.

Thanks what my company gunny said. Use a rattle snake and take off the tail. I'm just not sure how clean that would look. The tip of the tail has to come around infront of the snake.

Awesome! I think I'll try the cast and apoxy sculpt.
I saw a painting today and the artist which was a marine painted a rattle on the tip of the tail, maybe we can just change it...
Are Rattles hard to tan and mount?

Rattles? Or rattlers? The rattle itself is nothing. It doesn't even need to be tanned. Rattlers are actually pretty easy. The skin comes off super easy. The only part you have to slow down and be careful on is the head. Be careful when you get to the heat vents. Use a fish fleshing tool or a bent butter knife to flesh it. Sprinkling Borax on the flesh side helps a lot too. Then wash all the borax off before pickling. Tanning is nothing really. MUCH easier to tan than fur bearers. I also use curved scissors to thin the lips. After a day in the pickle I pull the skin out and trim them up, and put it back in the pickle. The mounting isn't bad either. Just pay attention to the scale patterns and make sure the scales all run in one direction and don't get clumped up before you staple the bottom.

anything special for the scales?
after I paint the colors back in, should I just clear coat it? or are there other things that I would have to do?
