Does anyone know how those toad/frog souvenirs were made and where they come from? They are usually playing instruments or drinking beer and look very red and shiny (how do they do that?) Are they really taxidermy or just dried? Just curious here is an example:

That is a Marine, or cane toad.
Native to the Americas from South Texas to the Amazon basin. Released all over the world.
The novelties are primarily Mexican in origin.
I have no idea the process of preservation.

crocodile mick pitman in the northern territory of australia does way better than these guys and they are taxidermied the ones that he does not freeze dried check out his website at crocodile mick.com

My daughter nagged me to buy her one from a flea market for $5.  Its mouth isn't completely sealed, and if I aim the light in there, I can see a stuffing in there, possibly paper, so it is more than one step prep.
