I have 6 cottonmouths I want to get working on soon...My question as I have no reptile experience is which would work best case skinning or a straight ventral cut? I know with mammals case skinning can be a little easier to work with around a form...but given the shrinkage of the skin (not sure if snakes skin shrinks) I know supergluing the ventral cut together is not hard but concerned on lining up the belly scales right...

These snakes range in size between 2 to 3 feet in length.

Depends on the pose, but if your planning on doing crawling, it doesn't matter. On striking poses, the first half of the snake gets tubed, and the rest is belly cut to the vent with the tail tubed.

Snake skin does just the opposite. It stretches.
I staple the belly skin and lining the belly scales up is actually pretty easy.

Its a crawling pose to start out with...i think i will do a copuple like this and then when i get the feel for it try a striking or coiled open mouth pose
