I mounted a sheep this weekend with a right turn.  I was going to have the sheep looking right and put a little white in the back corner of its left eye and the front corner of its right eye.  When I looked at the eyes the position of the iris was not centered.  The iris on both was closer to the white part so that if I showed any white at all the pupil made it look like it was looking the wrong way.  There was a tiny amount of white all the way round, but closest to the iris was a huge amount of white.  These were not aspherical or anything, but how can the pupil be closer to the white part of the eye?  I ended up mounting it without any white showing and it looks good, but I'm wondering what I'm missing.

You are not missing anything.  The pupils in many of the eyes are screwed up.  Quality control for the eye companies is a thing of the past.
