I must say I have been sitting back reading the responses to this thread, waiting to see if the right one appeared and I am glad Keith could not keep his mouth shut, but gul darn it Keith Daniels your given away our secrets LOL.,although as cyclone mentioned that I have used the term many times before and no one questioned it but cyclone, I am giving Keith 100% I could have not explained that better than he did, now maybe we can all be on the same page or somewhat lol. And os Hartung response never knock it till you have tried it, you will never remove as much of the undesirables from a green skin or a salted skin by just salting the skin, beaming has its place, remember what Keith stated you can not treat all skins the same and this is not for the novice.

Not really "questioned" muscle, but rather prompting for info.  Now there is a definition for "scouring" and a link to this post will help the less experienced shed light on the subject shall it arise again (and it will)..

Myself, I'm addicted to the salt..

Noted that someone said not to beam a raw hide. Usually I turn eyes, ears, lips then beam to get remaining fat and meat off my capes then salt and let dry. Haven't had any problems that I can see because of beamng raw cape. Send my capes out to get tanned and haven't had any problems or heard anything from tannery saying not to do what ever I'm doing so why not beam a raw cape. It's been working for me. How do you remove fat and meat off of cape if you don't beam it? Open for suggestions and am willing to try anything if it makes it easier and better.
