This is Al Weaver Ty's dad. Ty is 16 and has really taken a liking to taxidermy the last couple years and has started mounting his trophies and some for buddies. He and a buddy were fortunate to each take very nice elk this fall. Ty's buddy's dad took the 2 elk and an otter to Brazos Bend Tannery. We spoke with a very polite lady there about a month ago and she told us the elk were ready and she would email the invoice. We asked her to check on the otter and add it to the invoice as well. After not receiving the invoice in a week we called, and called, and called and called some more and emailed......no response. Does anyone know a person there? If so please have them call me 409-223-2260
My son took this beautiful elk with a bow and is very anxious to work on it. It is/was a once in a lifetime trophy.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
Al

I've got a Taxidermist from east Texas that I will do wholesale work for.  Late summer last season he asked if I would mount 12 deer for him wholesale and he do the finishing. 'no problem' I told him. He is an excellent payer and very easy to work for and I was happy at the thought of having a semi easy week by mounting 12 deer and having very little overhead.  Well his wife drives here and has EVERYTHING I needed (as they always do) from mannikins already labeled to the antlers and capes they go with to even a can of Bondo so I do not have to use mine.

They drop everything off and the next Sunday I get out 3 tamned capes to prep and mount Monday.  He had previously told me he switched to Brazos Bend Tannery.  What started as a 4-5 work day week on Monday turned into 2 weeks of hell as I had to work with the most effed up, acid burned, shaved to hell capes I have ever handled.  A 10 year old asking what picking means in the beginners section of this site could do a better job tanning than that Brazos Bend Company.

JUNK!!! That is all their crap called tanning should be defined as!

Good luck Mr. Weaver, I hope that they are not now ripping off young children also!

Thanks for the replies sirs. My Dad has been trying to reach Brazos Bend for a long time. My elk was beautiful and I took my time to cape it out carefully. My buddy is very upset also. These were our first elk. My Dad is going to drive out to the tannery to get some answers.
By the way; I love this forum! Y'all are very helpful and awesome at taxidermy.
Two more days of school and off for the holidays. I will be mounting my lil sisters eight point. It is not a monster but he is kinda one of a kind eight point. She wants it mounted with an apple in its mouth? I also will be working on a opossum. The one that won't be getting in our trash any more ;-)

Your buddy always,
Ty

A fella from Brazos Bend called my Dad's buddy today and said the elk would be done right after Christmas! I hope so, please.
He said they don't use the phone numbers that we were calling anymore??
I hope all turns out well. I finished a buddies blackbuck tonight.

Just an update: I did get the elk capes from Brazos Bend. (did not get the otter yet) I must admit that my elk mounted up great.
I just want to be fair and give this update.
