I am working on this oddball squirrel mount I made the body entirely of clay (wire tail) and the skin is one that I skinned/tanned myself. Hope you like. He is supposed to be a creepy little fellow.
I know that many do not like the oddball stuff, but sculpting the head has really helped me; I got it dead-bang the way I wanted the skin to lay over it, and I daresay it'll help me to sculpt heads for traditional mounts.



I incorporated real teeth too.

How big is he - he looks little but my perspective might be off! Was it hard to skin?

He is about 8 inches end to end. Head is a bit larger than lifesize; body is much smaller. I had a section of belly that I mangled while skinning, so I completely cut it out.

 This was my second attempt at skinning a squirrel. I had gotten the feet/bones cleaned out pretty good, but I cut the tail short. I was going to do another traditional mount, but some of the toes were broken off by me.
