OK I give up, question on storing fiberglass resin

I don't use a whole lot of fiberglass resin, and keep a quart handy when I do need it. The problem is when I do open the can and use some out of it, the next time I try to use it, its all hardened. Last time I needed some it was late, I opened the can, yep all hard and funky, I took a 1/2" drill bit and opened the mess up and finally got a few ounces out of it, and threw the rest of the can in the trash.
So I'm asking what is your secret to storing resin and keep it from doing this??

open it only long enough to get out what you need then clean the cap and spout real good and seal it back up. If the stuff builds up on the lids it hardens and won't allow it to seal good.

Tried all that. It still hardens up, even double layered some saran wrap over the top of the can to help it seal better.

Have you tired storing the tin up side down ? this will ensure an air tight seal, so long as it does not leak of course !
I was led to believe that all polyester resins have a shelf life and may not perform "as well" after this, they may still work but working/setting times may be unpredictable ?

I never put the lid on mine, LOL! Seriously, it sits beside my Bondo, unopened. I use a can every few months. I think heat and humidity are your problems. My shop air is dry.

Thanks for the replies ! I will try to store it in the fridge and see how that goes. It does get hot in the Texas summer heat for sure when I'm not working in there.
