I just purchased a couple sets of nictitating membranes to use on my deer mounts.  Never used them before but was wondering how I actually put them in.
Is it worth it to use the membrane or is their another method that works better.

Sculpt them in when doing finish work, or save real ones and install when finishing. Never bought fake ones before. 3bears

Just mount the eye then slide them in.Joe coombs sells an eye that has them attached to the glass eye its self. After trying all of those, I found sculpting them is easy with more control over the finished product.

Sometimes I sculpt them in, and other times when I'm cleaning off the eye I leave the paint and use my knife to shape it out of the paint.

There is nothing wrong with using a replacement membrane, if you are not used to sculpting them it can be a tough time to get it right.  Its easy to trim the eppley ones and install them.
