First bass restoration
«

Just thought I'd share my first bass restoration and my second bass painting. Replaced fins (they were beyond damaged) and tried to make a 34 year old fish a little better. For my second ever I'm pleased but always looking to improve used the pearlex powders and loved them, also tried out the iwata neo like it too. Done for one of my good friends dads for christmas and he loved it already delivered. (I also toned down the mouth before I took it, way to pink it seemed like, the dark spot on the belly is from me taking pic.) Thanks for looking any pointers would be great.

Your colors are a bit better, but you muted the mouth way too much. They certainly aren't pink but neither are they beige. A largemouth has a white mouth interior (usually toned down with a combination of blue and red "glimmer" paints. Your spot pattern is too uniform and not realistically reproduced. Check out Cole Cruickshanks bass paint schedule in the tutorials as that's about as good as it could get from anyone. You replaced the caudal fin I suppose but you have it in an anatomically impossible position. The center of the caudal is in line with the lateral line. As such the tail really doesn't swivel on the body but moves up and down when the tail of the fish moves. In order to get to that position, the entire tail would need to be curved upwards. I would strongly suggest buying the Breakthrough Fish Finishing Manual from WASCO.
