So I haven't been "on" the forum a lot lately BUT I am aware that people did really enjoy seeing people post up "mostly" finished bird mounts On BIRD OF THE WEEK. Some liked the "competition", some didn't. Smiley Some liked JP's Picks, some didn't  Smiley I know I will miss looking over others birdwork so  I thought it might be a good idea to start a "BIRDS OF THE YEAR" just separating the thread out by the year. No weekly "winners", just a thread to see others finished bird mounts/pieces. A place perhaps to get a compliment, but mainly to show others our work. In the tradition of Jp's BOTW lets keep it critique free please. I will post up a photo and we will see if we can get another thread going that everyone can once again see others work. If its a "Bad" idea I guess the thread wont last. Just an idea?! Smiley 2012 is Close enough IMO that I will start off with the first BOTY post. Have a GREAT 2012 everyone!! Smiley

Here's a "chicken" I mounted years ago but finally did some base-work on. Post up everyone! Beginners to Advanced, doesn't matter, lets see your work Wink

Thanks JP. Just continuing what you started really. Smiley Just a few small changes. I am GLAD people are posting some "WOWSER" work up  Wink  I always have enjoyed seeing the talent and diversity that BOTW presented. Thanks for the stump info Blake! Versa Max EXCELLENT piece, I like the composition a lot, Looks similiar to a mallard/pintail hen I have in the freezer, Just pulled a cast off her head today. Drakeman I see no pics LOL Wink Rick, I think Drake mallards are underrated. Beautiful! Jeremy looks busy as usuall nice work everyone! Smiley

Here's another bird I put out in my last finish cycle. A "lovely" early Sept. Sandhill. Very tough bird to make smooth with all the feather loss. Glad I did not have to mount the whole thing LOL  Cheesy

Eugene, that crane looks great.  I am going to Lubbock to hunt them in a couple weeks.  Can't wait to mount one for my collection.   Believe it or not, my wife and I are going for our 19 th anniversary.  All I had to do was promise some fine dining that evening.  Canada's in the morning then cranes in the evening followed by nice dinner!!  Yeehaw!
