Krowtann questions

Trying krowtan for the first time. I know some guys love and some hate it..i figured I'd try it and form my own opinion. Because krowtann seems to be a little particular, For you guys who use it I have 2 questions.

Does it matter what kind of salt you put in with the tan?

When you wash it in liquid tide do you mix it with water or just put it on a towel and rub the hide down?
