A while ago there was a thread here about reshaving capes. Thought I 'd share what I have been doing for the better part of this afternoon.
It's a life size skin from a 500 kg bull that came from the tanner a "tad" too thick,  Smiley. Reminds you of why you're equipped with arm muscles.

Don't that just piss you off ? You pay them to shave it and thats what you get back.

Its just Lazy as far as I am concerned on their part.

It was not my intention to complain about the tannery, just sharing what I was doing. Tannery is not that bad at all, they do a very decent tanning job considering the fact that these bulls are killed during hot season ( >100 F ) and I have never lost a single one. Their shaving sucks, but at about 5 € / sq.foot what do you expect, plus the fact that there are very, very few tanneries to begin with. So on big hides I used to let them do their thing and then refine things to what I need, all the small stuff we did by ourselves. Now we moved to Belgium and it's basically the same, I send my big hides to a German tannery and do the smaller stuff in house. So consider yourselves lucky to have a choice of tanneries available. Wink
