If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

This otter and salmon scene by Jim Hall was featured on the cover of the second issue of Breakthrough in the spring of 1983.

And before that, it was a centerfold in Taxidermy Review Magazine, having won a top award at on the the Taxidermy Review Competitions!  Thanks for posting the picture, Ken!

I got to know Jim when he used to purchase our bark edged Earth Panels.  He let us use photos of his mounts on our panels for our advertising.  We used to hang out together at some of the old NTA conventions years ago.  He was a special person, a great taxidermist and I am proud to have called him Friend.  Prayers to his family and Rest in Peace Jim.

Jim helped me out when my jacket melted the laquer on a deer nose I hauled to Burly in the back of my VW Beetle. He set me up with some gloss and an airbrush. It was  1989 I think and I was able to repair it well enough with his help to win judges choice. I always felt indebted to him for that, but he played it down like it was nothing. What a loss to us all. Prayers for his family.

I's so very sad to hear this news. Ken Edwards Emailed me this evening to tell me this. I have not been on for some time as I'm working on a project out west but I wanted to log on here to send my most sincere condolence to Jim Halls family.
I meet a man from ID along time ago who was kind enough to take his time for 45 minutes to sit with me and talk to me about fish taxidermy and all that I needed to know about the business.  I would never forget this to meet a legend and a to have this man take time to talk to a virtual no one... this meant the world to me.  Jim Hall was a true gift! Another of the new Modern fathers has gone and I'm sad to think that so many new taxidermist today would not get to benefit from the gifts of Jim Halll. I will miss him!

God Speed Jim

Thank you to eveyrone who commented on this post!  I stumbled on this by accident, and was really touched.  I'm his grandaughter, and didn't realize just how well known he was in the taxidermy world.  I grew up calling his show room the, "dead animal room".  He was a very good grandfather, and I have good memories of him teaching us how to work with wood in his shop.  He had three grand daughters sanding for hours Smiley  Anways, just thought I'd get on here to thank you for honoring him in this way.

May I be the one to tell you, on behalf of us here, that your grandfather was even more then what we have said here so far, as we here at taxinet forums are just a portion of what is our big taxidermy family. I do not think that theres an active taxidermist that hasnt heard of Jim Hall. Thats besides all of us who have been helped by him. He was known by most, and respected by them too. As the others have said already, our continued thoughts for your family during this difficult time. Thanks for coming by to say hello.

Sad to hear that Jim has passed.
I grew up running around his house and had no idea at the time what a influence he had in the taxidermy world.
Wish I would have paid a little attention to what was going on in his studio.

My thoughts a prayers go out to his family.
