Pickle Bath Question
«

A couple weeks ago I mixed up a pickle bath with Rittels Saftee-Acid. The Ph was around 1. I am only a part time hobbyist at best and don't have too much time to do taxidermy other than school holidays. Next Monday is a school holiday so I thought maybe I could do some work on a mount. I totally forgot that I had put a couple foxes, a bobcat and other things into a pickle solution. Today I remembered. I just checked the Ph and it was a over 2 but less than 3.
My question is, is it worth bothering to go through with the tanning and trying to mount these items? The hair didn't feel like it was slipping but I don't have the time to waste if it isn't going to work. I am going to use EZ-100 for the tan.
What do you guys who do home tanning with Rittels think?

I think it will be fine. EZ 100 is the $h!+ by the way.

Critical point is pH 3 , add some more acid and bring the pH down to 2.0 skins should be fine.

You will have no problems with his tanning products. I use it all the time along with others but it's a favorite.
Always check pH that night or in the morning when you add capes to a pickle.

How are you checking the pH ? Paper or tester?
