Australian Taxidermists/Import Questions

Hey guys not sure if this is in the right section so let me know if its better off somewhere else.
I have a Life sized mountain lion that was shot in Oregon last year. These cougars are hunted all year around and considered a pest species (apparently). I'm in Oregon now, but i live back home in Australia.
When i emailed the CITES department back home regarding taking this back home, they said i wasn't allowed to as its on the cites list for endangered animals. (just to clarify i don't want to sell it, i just want it in my house).
When looking up the cites list, i found it was possilble to import the sub species of cougar that is NOT allowed to be hunted, yet the species of cougar i have IS allowed to be hunted and i canot bring it back home?
Just wondering if any of you aussies out there have imported endangered animals back home? Ive seen taxidermists back home with tigers and lions and all sorts o stuff, so it must somehow be possible. Any info would be appreciated.
If this is better in another topic, let me know to please
Thanks heap for any info/help

I have a couple of cougars to go to Austrailia this year. I do not anticipate any problems. Yes there are hoops to jump through, but it can be done without too much trouble. make sure you have a CITES permit and a cleared 3-177 declaration. This means it will have to leave a designated port and be inspected by USF&W.
