Is there anything other than bondo that can be used to secure the earliner in an ear (white tail)

Bondo is not generally used to glue earliners in. Go to hobby lobby and get the 5 min epoxie.

I should note that the way I was taught was to spread bondo all over front and back of earliner.. insert in ear, shape, and wait to dry...

Your teacher was a hillbilly

Actually.. I have heard that from NUMEROUS local taxidermists.. I am having to relearn a lot.. which is why I am thanful for this website.....

But when you are new and go to a class.. you assume everything being taught is the correct method.. I asked this question because after numerous times using this method, something just does not seem right.... so I am glad you answered

Well while going to a class helps out and gives you a direction rather than trial and error on your own there are other methods of doing taxidermy. One instructor might use bondo and one will use earliners. But never heard of anyone teaching using bondo with earliners that defeats the pourpose of the earliner. Bondo is used as a replacement for  earliners. I just don't see any reason why someone would screw up a perfectly nice earliner by adding bondo to it. Hell what do I know. Good luck just try other methods and pick what works for you.

Randy so Joe Meder is a hillbilly?, I learned it from him at his place a lot of years ago.

Some of you are stuck on not using your brain. Many of us over the years have used bondo resiin mix to make earliners, and glue them back in the ear with, we have used bondo resin for hide paste.

Nothing about methods is set in stone in taxidermy and yes bondo makes a glue for earliners.

If used properly you can use bondo, caulk, several kinds of hide paste, and two part epoxies designed for ears. Some of it depends of what kind of liner you are using. I have great luck with water based adhesives and plastic liners.

I have to agree with John 1000%, there are alot of things that work that came about through trial and error, just like everything else.

John, let me say it: ANYONE who uses Bondo as an adhesive for ANYTHING is a "hillbilly". Now whose ever name is used to fill that blank isn't my problem.
