This is my fourth yr cleaning now and I am amazed at all the skulls coming it. I more than doubled in size this past summer thinking I could really go through some skulls and be done by spring so I could fish and turkey hunt since deer hunting is out of the question. After working 45 hours a week at hospital,  taking call at night, working weekends,  wife and two small kids, plus the skulls, I AM TIRED! I don't see how y'all big guys do so many skulls a yr

This is one reason I havent started doing it(yet). The extra money would be nice. but, right now, the few skulls I whiten or metallize is fun and I don't want it to become "work." Maybe I'll get something going before next season. Maybe not...

Try this. I work 6-7 days a week in a forging factory. Divorced raising two boys on my own. No child support no family within a four hour drive to help and doing 100 plus skulls a year. It was fun at first now it's just like work like everything else. My oldest son (10) is starting to help a lot with the deer which is actually making it more enjoyable. My friends all say I'm a workaholic. Lol.

I agree with everyone, it is extra work and it takes away from time with my wife.  I have only been doing this for 2 seasons and am up to 145 skulls this year.  There really isnt a lot of money in it...........what were we thinking?Huh?  I charge $115 for a deer and $150 for elk......I would think that is good enough.

Skulls are fun, cheap and easy to do.  I did around a 100 of them so farcby the end of Feburary plus about 20 shoulder mounts so far....now it's time to really knock out the shoulder mounts!

I started a few years ago pretty much for myself.  Each year I got a little more work from friends.  This year I took in over 150 heads through word of mouth.  Needless to say I wasnt quite ready for this and doing my work out of my unfinished basement!  But we got through it and we are in the process of putting up a building.  This year I will be doing some advertising a little more.  I love doing skulls and hopefully dont lose interest in it.
