I just love it when an impatient customers calls and wonders why his monster black bear skull isnt ready in a month LOL...

The ones I love are the taxi's that drop off 40 deer and 20 elk and want to have them all done in a month or two.

Just ask the taxi if a hunting club dropped off 40 deer and 20 elk for shoulder mounts would they be done in a month or two.

I make sure that my customers and wholesale folks understand that when its ready is when the skull is grease free, if they want it sooner, it will have grease but the price is the same. Make sure your customers understand that getting it right takes time.

Yeah it just make me laugh they have no idea what it takes to do it right.

when i get one like that i tell them i will be more then happy to give it back to you tomorrow,but your not going to be a happy camper!most are decent and are tickled to death with the time and the finish product!

I have a monster brown bear that they need done by first of Feb and I got it in 4 months ago, its like a 29 inch skull off a 10 1/2 foot kodiak island coastal fish eating greasy thing.

I told them I would peroxide it right before the show and finish it after, it is getting close though, so it might be done in time

The last two brown bears i did took quite awhile...

Give it a solid week of straight ammonia now, then a few more days in degreaser then pull out of peroxide the day before it is due.   The deep grease in the back of the zygomatic  arches and near foramen magnum are the toughest to get out. You need the ammonia to help break it up.  Would like to see a pic of it. Curious on it's age? Size is not indicative of age in bears, genetics and food are, 8 years old is when skeletal structure matures including skull .  The old dinosaur boars are my favorite even if they aren't that big.
