just skinned a red squirrel out, split the underside of the tail all the way to the tip, im going to make a tail using wire and thread, but how do i attach the skin to the tail im gonna make? it seems almost impossible to sew it, so would i just super glue it? i searched but couldnt find anything, any help would be much appreciated!

I always pull the tail bone out. without spliting the tail, not sure if you can sew it up. I would suggest splicing another tail on it, that isn't split. I've replaced tails before and it can be done pretty easily. good luck

it's WAY easier to just pull the tail out instead of  spiltting it all the way. I made my own tail stripper out of wood and cut a v shape in the end...works on all size tails! I actually got the idea from a post on here somewhere  lol, I would prob. sew it tho or else I wld think you might risk the incision splitting open as it dries. But I am no expert so maybe someone else will offer more input lol  Smiley

Since it's already split, lay the tail down (hair side down).  Using a very small needle and some 2 lb. mono, start at the tip and sew a LOOSE zigzag pattern with quarter inch stitches back and forth the length of the tail.  Insert your wire under the thread and then gently cinch the thread from the end so that it will close like a purse string.
