I haven`t been on here for 3 or 4 years now..had alot happening in my personal life from building a house to my wife battling breast cancer last year..We caught it early so hopefully she has it whooped...I always thought I was tuff till I seen my wife go through a horrible car wreck, fight cancer, and put up with me...

I see some of the old timers here...Is Gleen Connley still hanging around on the site? Bill Yox?? I haven`t done much searching around to see who all is still here..How about grumpy old George?? he he....Well I just wanted to say hi to everybody--I learned about everything I know about taxidermy right here from you fine folks...still trying to get caught up on deer from last year but i`m getting there... Hi Cindy!!!! Hope things are going well for you. We will be in KC Feb 10th for our anniversary...staying at the Ameristar..I`m not sure if I`ll make it to the show or not. I sure miss going. Seems our life kinda got all thrown out of whack there for a while and we quit doing or couldn`t do the things we normally do...But life is good and we are driving on. I will try to make it to the show. I`m sure there are alot of new people I haven`t met...probably get my butt kicked in compettion since I haven`t competed in so long..always fun to push ourselves to the point of insanity..Be good sis....LT

If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

Hey Lonnie,

Hope all is well with your wife, and keeps being well.  It is scary when something happens to the love of our life ... it just tears you apart inside!  Glad to hear she beat it, and I hope she stays strong!  "Weaker Sex" my eye!  Take care of yourself as well, and be strong for each other!

Thanks John...we appreciate it...It was a scarey deal to go through and of course it still weighs on her mind but she is doing well...Hope all is well for yoy also...I was thinking about you the other day. I went through a bunch of my old taxidermy books and found your "Art of the Big Cat" book...been a while since I flipped through the pages. Hopefully this summer I will pull it out again if I get time to start my two tigers...Take care

Spent my whole life lookin' back
 Not lookin' ahead to see
Trying to keep my feet on track
Doin' what was expected of me
Kick my shoes off so they can't trace me
 Leave no forwarding address
Before they all drive me crazy
And I leave 'em all in a bloody mess

Hey Lonnie sorry to hear the trouble, glad to hear you and your wife are getting well. Its been a trying year for many of us. Hang in there and stay in touch. Hope you get to enjoy doing more cats soon. How many years has it been now since you and I used to talk on the phone about mounting bobcats??? Lol.

Thank you all for your "best wishes and prayers"...she had her one year check up yesterday...she got the ALL CLEAR...could sure see alot of stress lift off of her...That stuff weighs ya down...hopefully time will help her deal with it without stressing on it..hard to not do i`m sure.

Mr. Yox----lol man it seems like yesterday in one way and a lifetime in another way...It`s funny you ask that though because I googled my name the other day and found a hunting website where somebody brought up my name...he made the comment to ya that I had done a seminar and mentioned your name as one of my "on-line" teachers...Thanks for the nice words in your reply..I try to follow your steps in helping beginners...what was given to me freely I also give freely....Young and old folks call me all the time asking me questions about cats and I always try to help them out...what comes around goes around...Take care brutha

Lol, I dont recall the reply but most likely I just tried to focus their interest back to you. I have taught a lot of people over the years, big names and quiet names, but I never care to really take credit for them or their accomplishments. They worked hard, which may have included me, ya know? Its them still. I remember our chats, remember how I could never remember whether it was Lonnie Travis, or Travis Lonnie? Lol. Glad to hear the good news on the wifes 1 year. Always remember, we taxidermists are family too.

I don't know about Gleen Connley, but there's a Glen Conley that still surfaces periodically.

Since you've been gone, I've been sculpting whitetail forms, three lines of bucks, and one doe line.

We've started a scholarship fund for advanced whitetail training for a selected taxidermist.  We run auctions here on taxi.net to raise the money.  We raise $1,000 for each person.  That money helps to pay our tutors, Big John Griffith, and Mr. William Arthur Yox.

Don't stay away so long next time!

Glen Glen----Good to see ya brutha..sounds like you have been BUSY!!! I was just telling a buddy the other day I`m about ready to start sculpting some bobcat forms and try something different..I have some great ideas for poses..difficult poses made easy is what I`m shooting for..something a little different than anything on the market right now...I got about 20 deer to finish up and a few cats then I`m caught up...thinking I may not take any critters in next fall and give this sculpting a shot...sounds like ya got a cool thing going on with the scholarship fund...neat stuff...sorry for mispelling your name...and all the work ya done for me to keep my website on the google hit list search!!! Take care
