I am doing a walleye for comp and skinned it with a dorsal incision. The ? is do you sew that seam back up or do you just use the hide paste to hold it and epoxie the seam?

Stuffer, I have problems with the stitching pulling scales, I like superglue, or insect pins.... Pins where the fins will be placed. Would like to see some pics. walleye and perch are a passion of mine, and the suttle changes on the back of a walleye, should not be missed. any other help, just pm me. thanks, and good luck. Dan

get your skin to line up tight as possible it's really all about the form u carve or reshaped purchased form..
1) Hide paste.
2) pin.
3) let fish dry
4) lightly Vaseline scale surface & I mix a 99.9% silicone with acrylic paint & cast of the dried scales close to the scales being replicated.. aka your cut line..
5) cleanup any surface residue to get rid of Vaseline release agent
6) use the mold to press into my epo grip. "I use epo grip I get a much smoother transition but that's me".. you can use expoy sculpt.
to blend the area
hope this helps. and is not confusing.. good luck.
Hope you win a blue ribbon..
