Nice work Steve. Thats true talent. With that ability to paint flat art you should really knock out some dead on fish mounts!

Keep up the good work!!!

Nice job.........but hate to be the bearer of bad news, but..... as someone who has a very vast collection of old creek chub lures I can tell you 100% that the fish was caught on a creekchub wigglefish. You have a creekchub fintail shiner on yours.

There's where I got the information. It has an entire section explaining how many lure collectors think it was caught on the wigglesfish but perry himself stated it was in fact the fintail shiner.

I really think that is a super job. Your colors, depth and shading are great. There is a lot going on with that painting that I like. I like your "paynes grey" look to the anal and pelvics, the transparency of the pec, the slight blue-greenish tone in the head area, the webbing color on the hard and soft dorsal with highlights on the rays, the very detailed scale tipping and the vermiculations as they fade out towards the belly. That IS a fine job on that. You could probably sell copies of it. Good work!

My wife won't will not believe this but I may be ............wrong. Hard to dispute that artical on the fintail shiner. Creek chub has claimed for many years that the lure was the wigglefish, kind of hard to ignore the comments by Perry. Good artical that explains all and thanks for pointing it out. Just when you think you know it all...........
